Stories in the making

Relief tiles inspired by the Craft Study Centre's collection of Irene Wellingtons calligraphy work. Held as a joint project with the University for the Creative Arts, Stories in the Making offered the opportunity to closely examine and research a chosen craft object from the Craft Study Centre and produce a contemporary response piece.

Inspired by the expressive marks and geometric layout of Wellingtons diary (26 days and 25 nights of summer), the tiles explore grid systems of sequential calligraphic shapes, using the immediate mark making qualities of clay.
